About the Teacher

My name is Andrea and my passion is working with children.  I have a degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University and have been tutoring/teaching for close to 15 years. I worked as a general education elementary school teacher in Virginia for 5 years and decided to become a tutor to continue pursuing my love of education while dedicating more time to my family.  I am VA Licensed in PreK-6 and have worked with children of all ages.  I am bilingual and enjoy the flexibility I've had in communicating with families and incorporating Spanish in the classroom.

I believe that all students can succeed when held to high expectations and given appropriate, individualized instruction - having the opportunity to work one-on-one with a child allows me to do just that!

About the Services

My educational services include:

  • Summer tutoring to review completed grade level and/or prepare for the fall

  • School year remediation and enrichment in math, reading, and writing

  • SOL review and test prep for students in grades 3-6

  • Spanish tutoring for higher levels

My technique:

I will assess your child in the area of need, review data from school assessments, and/or communicate with your child's teacher in order to provide the most effective instruction.  I provide fun and engaging lessons and can accommodate any learning style.  I have very open and clear communication with parents and believe that home support makes a huge difference in a child's education.
